We welcomed Reilly Cornwall (and her Mom, Lisa) from Girl Scout Troop 1130 to our meeting today. Reilly is a senior at Sage Creek High School who is working on her Gold Award. Reilly’s project is to raise awareness for youth homelessness from Carlsbad to San Diego and is working closely with San Diego Youth Services. After her presentation today, both her and Lisa left as they were heading to a Girl Scout camping weekend with her troop.
Our next fundraising event is our Halloween Bowl-A-Thon, which is scheduled for Sunday, October 29th, 12 – 3 in Oceanside. Our goal for this event is to have more bowlers in attendance that were at our July event!! We are still in need of bowlers!!
Some of our past and present members have been having some health issues so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers!!
We are moving forward with both the Oratorical and Essay Contest. Pam has already stepped up and stated that she is willing to work on both.
I am asking all members to please make a conscious effort to attend our meetings. As many of you know, we are not holding our golf tournament this year and we need all members/Friends of Optimists for any new fundraising ideas that they have. I love that our mission is ‘to help local kids in the community’ and with the golf tournament not on our calendar, we definitely need everyone’s input as to some new ideas for fundraising and for moving our Club into the future.

We are always looking for new members!! If you know of anyone that would make a great addition to our club, please invite them to a meeting! Give me a call and I would be happy to personally invite them as well!
