
Hello,Thanks to those who could join for our Zoom meeting yesterday. We got a lot decided, info shared and had some laughs!
This is where we’re at: *we discovered those who do not have a paid Zoom account can’t do some of the basic security that we are asking. 🙁 SO if you do not have a paid account and want to still help — pick your day and time and let us know. Someone with a paid account will create the meeting and log in with you and give you co-host capability. The list of Zoom Helpers is attached. *we have a few meetings set up (see below). But now we need you to fill in your times and zones. Thinking two each to start. I have sent the below list to Stephanie already so we could start letting people know about them. Ideally by May 1? Then we’ll see if more is needed. ALSO please decide if you are doing a beginner (people will come on and ‘practice’) OR how to host a meeting (club presidents, etc). You may get both in all sessions but figured it’ll be easier to try to set the parameters. *we’ve decided to not have an agenda per se – though we do recommend you be prepared to talk about: what is an authenticated attendee (needs a Zoom account); how chat works; what is host duties; share screen, polls, break out rooms, white board (all only available to the host) and resources. Attached is a resource document – it has some general info about Zoom; basic and advanced security (basic will be used for these meetings); some YouTube videos with general ’stuff’ and a few infographics. Be prepared to answer a variety of questions. And remember – Google is your friend!
To make life a bit easier, here is the security info you’ll need to create these meetings: BASICS for security: Turn on:password waiting roomregistration• with custom question “What is the name of your Optimist Club?”• added to standard questions “State/Province” to gather metrics• changed it from automatically approved to “manually approved”• turned on Notification to send host email when someone registers (so I can be speedy at approvingEmail Settings (under registration) Edited;• Added; “This session is to help Optimists learn how to set up a meeting using the Zoom platform. In addition, we will look at the different host controls and how to and when to use them. If you’re simply looking for how to attend a Zoom meeting as a participant, there is another series coming soon just for that purpose. Zoom you soon!” (NOTE: Please change if you’re hosting a beginner session)**This can be saved as a template so you don’t have to do it every time!
