There was a sea of red sweaters with smiling faces. John Bowen welcomed the kids and their parents, then presented them with a token of the Optimist appreciation. Sacred Heart kids were to be honored this week for Youth Appreciation. Optimist Principal Peter Harris read wonderful accolades about the kids, Kai, Daniel, Juan Pablo, Alexia, Camile, and Kamilah.
We then got back to the business at hand and 55 members and 21 guests showed up for all the fun. Guests not only included the Sacred Heart kids and their parents, but Mo Gooch was in the house and darling Angela Ahren was home from school for a short visit before she keeps herself busy for the summer.

A Salesman’s Prayer
Dear Lord, today, as I start out
To make my calls with lingering doubt,
I’ll end this day successfully
If only you will strengthen me.
With all that’s here within me, Lord
I simply ask for your accord,
That, with it, I may do my best
And ‘making calls’ will do the rest.
Lord, make your countenance my tool
Help me observe the golden rule,
Let all my words be keen and true
And help me speak as you would do.
I do not pray for every sale
Where, magically, I’ll never fail,
But only that you’ll lend your light
And I’ll succeed before tonight.
Lord, show your love for me this way
Make my conviction strong today,
Remove my doubts from call to call
Just give me confidence…that’s all.
So, now I get me up to work
I pray thee, Lord, that I won’t shirk,
If I should die before tonight
I pray thee, Lord, my work’s alright.
One Birthday, Chief Jon Froomin
50/50 went to Gyorgy Bassola, who donated it back to the kids.
