The Optimist Club of Coronado an affiliate of Optimist International, California South District, was chartered September 28, 1970, with 26 members at the La Avenida Restaurant on Orange Avenue.

The room filled up quickly today.. looks like summer is coming to an end… kids getting ready for school, George K. will head back east, Jack Couture will return from the north, teachers will only stay for half of the Optimist meetings, and weather will start to cool down.
President Zoll dinged and welcomed guests Ledge Hakes, Ken Ireland… oh the real guests Mo Gooch chauffeur for Gooch, Greg came in with Dan Henrickson (LATE), but welcome, and George K. brought in retired Navy Dr. Moore.
The room bowed their heads for prayer by Governor Al Aegerter and asked for continuous blessings for the kids we support. Pledge was lead by guest, Mo.
Rob Kracht was diligently soliciting all Optimists to pick up their sponsors’ packets for SF… no one can escape this part of SF….This is how we support the kids all year….get those sponsorship’s in.
…Birthdays for dear Gooch who turns 90…with new knees, shoulders, wife…etc if we all could live so long and full of energy. Celebrating with Gooch is our club’s first FEMALE president, Linda Stanton. Brendon Farley and Caroleen Williams missed the serenading for their birthdays.
Anniversary celebrations for Renee brought in my Drummey and Fritz Gaylord mentor Carla Fargo and Roger Hayden who is still working so has to miss meetings, by his work peer Don Crawford.
Tom Kane stood up to share about our yearly lawn bowling competition with Rotary..sadly we lost due to our…Optimists FTA’D… FAILED TO APPEAR… so Rotary won by default. We will return…!
Caroline Lull treasurer-elect was collecting your dues…and if you do not know if you paid.. your name is on the list that was the table for all to view.
We had lots of brags or shall I say stories that became brags…either way money for the kids.
Ding master, Mark attempted to ding people and give English lessons for those who write letters …I am an Optimist…I am optimistic about this coming year- but he centers his mark on Chief Froomin of his last few dollars, but again IT IS FOR THE KIDS…

Our guest speaker, Omar Hernandez shared the financial opportunities to bundle loans for solar panels, new roof and a variety of other home improvements. With these type of loans they can be put onto your tax bills and are a type of tax deduction that can be on used on your yearly taxes.
