TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon on September 21st, California South (CALSO) Optimist District Governor, Diana Drummey, installed the 2019-2020 Board of the Del Mar – Solana Beach Optimist Club during a dinner meeting at the home of incoming Club President, Don Lavigne and First lady, Janis LaVigne.
Club Member, Louis Verhoog, was announced as the CALSO Zone One “Optimist of the Year” by Zone One Lt. Governor, Audrey Eller. Louis has been instrumental in the Club’s efforts to support Rady Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego and is truly deserving of the recognition. Audrey, herself, was announced as the CALSO Optimist District “Optimist of the Year” during the District’s Annual Convention in Pt. Loma last weekend.
Lt. Governor Audrey, who has coordinated the long running “Covers With Love” program in the CALSO District, called up the Club’s “Covers With Love” program volunteers and provided each of them with recognition and a gift.
Outgoing 2018-2019 Club President, Judy Trendel, presented each of her Board Members with thank you notes in recognition of their service in support of the Club during her term.
Some 20 Optimists then proceeded to enjoy a fantastic spread of dinner entrees, side dishes, snacking foods, and desserts. Of course, Warren Raps’ ‘Peach Cake’ was the favorite and left folks looking for more! There wasn’t a spoonful left!!
There was a lot of good conversation, good vibes, and good food for all. It was a wonderful Installation Dinner celebration and a good way to transition the Club into its new Optimist Year.
Secretary, Del Mar – Solana Beach Optimist Club
